Every year the American Library Association (ALA) holds the annual Youth Media Awards (YMAs) to honor books videos and other outstanding media for children and teens.
Over the last decade, UNIKRON has been a webcast provider for the YMAs, reaching hundreds of thousands of viewers. The webcast has reached 134,000 Facebook viewers in the past. UNIKRON's successful webcasts have reached cities around the world, acting as the Oscars of youth literature and media. The ALA has been a happy client of UNIKRON since 2011, hosting the YMAs in Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, San Diego and more.
Nominated by committees of librarians, educators, and other literature and media experts, the awards encourage original and creative work in the field of children's and young adult literature and media. The YMAs are held in high regard in the publishing industry. These highly respected awards are seen as a mark of excellence for authors and illustrators.
The awards ceremony is held during the ALA Midwinter Meeting and typically includes the presentation of several awards, including the Newbery Medal, the Caldecott Medal, the Coretta Scott King Book Award, and the Printz Award.
The YMAs held by the ALA plays a vital role in promoting and recognizing excellence in children's and young adult literature. They provide recognition to the authors and illustrators who have made significant contributions to the field and encourage the
production of high-quality literature for children and young adults. This highly anticipated webcast is streamed to librarians and educators around the world.
The 2023 YMAs will take place on Monday, Jan. 30, at 8:00 a.m. CT at the Morial Convention Center, New Orleans Theater.
Those not in New Orleans for the event can watch UNIKRON's live stream of the award announcements at ala.unikron.com. UNIKRON will also stream the YMAs to Facebook live through the ALA Facebook page.
